I went to Nutre Hogar for the second time, today. My experience was just as enjoyable as the first time I was there. The kiddos always look forward to visitors, and their smiles of joy melted my heart, once again, as we walked towards the front door. Our schedule today was similar to the one last week when we visited. We created a few new games this time, and the theme for the day was “Lavarse las manos,” which means, wash your hands in English. Throughout the day, we explained the importance of washing your hands before eating and after using the bathroom. The children colored pictures of hand washing, and each child traced their hand on a piece of construction paper, then we cut them out and pasted them on a sink drawing. A sweet girl even washed her paper hand in the actual sink, it was darling, and I think we got our point across after seeing her do that! We also taught dog safety, since it is very common to find stray dogs wandering the streets here in Chitré. The toy puppy we brought to demonstrate the behavior was a huge hit! All the children enjoyed petting him, and even took him on walks around the building. I must say, it was one of the cutest things I have ever seen! Here are some pictures I took during my visit today:) Enjoy!
XOXO, Jenny
