Well, I have finally started (and finished by the time this post is up, oops) packing for my trip to Panama! I'm only allowed to bring one 50 pound suitcase to be checked, along with a carry-on, and let me tell you that is hard for this girl to do! Let's just say, I'm not a light packer ;) (This morning when I checked my bag, it weighed 48.5 pounds so I made the cutoff by 1.5 pounds, thank goodness!) My normal vacays only last about two weeks at the most, so packing for a whole month is a total different story for me! Since it is a school based trip, we have a pretty strict dress code to follow. That being said, it made it a tad easier for me to get everything together, since I had specifics. Here's a list of a few things I packed for my trip, I still feel like I didn't pack enough, but I'm sure it will be plenty to get me through!
- PASSPORT (can't forget this pretty important thing!)
- 3 College of Nursing White Scrubs
- White Lab Coat
- USF Nursing Name Badge
- 3 USF White Polo shirts
- 3 Pairs of Khaki Pants
- 1 Pair of Jeans
- 4 Pairs of arm-length shorts (I feel like I'm in high school again)
- Panties
- Socks (8 pairs)
- 2 Pairs of Tennis Shoes
- 4 Pairs of sandals
- Black Flats
- 2 Bathing Suits
- 4 Sets of Pajamas
- Lounge outfits (yoga pants and t-shirts)
- Sundress
- Business casual outfit
- Shampoo & Conditioner
- 2 Bars of Soap
- Q-tips
- Suntan Lotion
- Small Umbrella
- Stethoscope
- Class textbooks (2)
- Camera!
I may have access to a washing machine, but definitely not a dryer. Looks like I will be hanging my clothes in the sun to dry...I guess there's always a first time for everything! It was optional to bring all of my toiletries, but if I didn't pack them with me I would have to purchase them when I get there. American Shampoo brands are much more expensive in Panama so I decided to pack mine from home.
When we arrive to Panama City on Friday, we will be making a trip to the grocery store. I will have a chance to pick up some food, and anything I need then. I'm definitely looking forward to this awesome experience, and can't wait to see what it brings!
As I'm finishing up this post, I'm sitting at my gate in Tampa to head to Miami, Gate F90 to be exact (it has been changed twice since I arrived), can't believe it is finally here! Off to Panama I go :)
XOXO, Jenny
